| Fact-finding reports |
Mayor Rahm Emanuel has created a plan to close 54 public schools by the end of the school year, this would be the largest school closing in the US history. Most of the students and parents that would be affected by this are classified as low-income and majority of them are either African-American and Latino families. Not only will the school closings affect the rare source of decent jobs, but it also would infringe on the right to education and the right to employment. Also the school closings would affect the childrens health, because the schools would gurantee at least one hot meal a day. Schools have provided general health care for the children as well as the ability to stay physically active through participating in after school sports.
